This experience is one that I never dreamed I would ever venture. You always see it in horror movies and it scares you a bit, but then you fall asleep and wake up the next day forgetting all about it. It's not truly real until a person is in front of you, their back bending in unnatural positions, screaming in tongue and languages you don't understand. And that's when it truly hits you: demonic possession is real.
It happened two weeks ago to a close friend of mine. It was a normal, calm Friday morning. We were gathering with the rest of our friends. He seemed well, nothing out of the ordinary. Actually, now that I think about it, he was checking his phone way too often, every three minutes or so. Didn't think much about it at the time.
We were watching the Academy Award winning film Hannah Montana: The Movie, sipping tea, being calm, classy and collected when my friend, lets call him X, got a phone notification then proceeded to grab the nearest headphones and rush to the other room. Maybe he got a phone call? I naively thought to myself.
A couple of minutes later, we hear X screaming, but not in a matter where it sounded like he was in danger, on the contrary; it sounded like he was excited. So we ignored it and kept our eyes fixed on the brilliant cinema that is Hannah Montana: The Movie. However, the longer we ignored it, the louder it got. And our Hannah Montana screening really wasn't going to be interrupted by this excessively annoying screaming. So we head to the room to see what the fuss was about and to tell him to keep it down. What we saw next, would scar us for the rest of our lives.
He was standing on the bed, back bent backwards that his head was between his own legs which made us all immediately erupt into utter shock and panic. His back snapped back into a straight position in the speed of light, his pupils dilated, his skin unusually freckled and scary. He was talking extremely fast, his voice sounding rough and thicker. At times he would even yell certain intangible words in almost a cartoon-ish sort of tone.
This went on for about five minutes, us doing all we could to calm him down, refusing to accept the fact that he's not sick... he's possessed by a very powerful demon. When we were trying to calm him down, I pulled out his headphones and almost immediately his pupils and skin went back to normal and he started calming down until he fell into a deep sleep. We were all glad this was over, or at least we were hoping it was.
I could hear something distant... music. The voice singing, or wait--no--rapping. It sounded familiar. It was coming from X's headphones that were plugged into his phone. I clicked the power button to see what was playing... and then it all made sense.
My friend suddenly stormed awake, pupils diluting stronger than before, voice hoarse and loud and he gave a piercing cry that sounded like an exploding bomb before yelling "TO FREEDOM!!!!!". It all made sense and we were all astonished and terrified because we knew there was no coming back from this, he was too far gone now. We did our best to calm him down again, as Nicki Minaj's distant voice sounded through the headphones,
"Bitch it's King Kong, yes, I'm King Kong.
This is King Kong? yes, Ms. King Kong..."
Queen by Nicki Minaj is out now, buy it here!
